Hearth & Heartwood started in 2009 with one trailer, a log splitter and a few neighbours who wanted decent dry timber for the winter. Word spread, and today we supply homes, pubs and holiday lets across Munster.
Our hardwood comes from managed Irish forestry and certified Baltic suppliers. It's cut, split and kiln dried here in the yard outside Cahir, so we know exactly what goes into every crate.
We're members of the Ready to Burn scheme and only sell fuels that meet the national solid fuel regulations — no wet wood and no smoky coal.
Properly dry wood
Every batch is moisture tested before it leaves the yard. If it's not under 20%, it doesn't go out.
Honest measures
A crate is a full crate. We don't pack loosely or top up with off-cuts.

Why kiln dried?
Freshly felled wood can be over 50% water. Burning it wastes heat, blackens stove glass and builds up tar in the chimney. Kiln drying brings the moisture down in days rather than years, giving you more heat per log and a cleaner chimney.
